Amity College chooses Interactive for technology reform

NSW-based school, Amity College, has chosen Interactive as its trusted technology partner for its major IT reform.

Amity was faced with temperamental, end-of-life infrastructure and servers rapidly reaching their storage capacity. It could see that anymore time operating in this environment would limit the school’s ability to grow and innovate for its students, faculty, and parents.

From pen and paper to computers to dial up to Wi-Fi

Originally, Amity sought out Interactive for hardware maintenance support, earlier this year. Some of their devices were no longer under warranty and they needed a provider that could maximise the lifespan of its infrastructure despite supplier restrictions.

“It’s lucky we partnered with Interactive when we did because within a couple of days of signing the contract, we needed their support for one of our critical pieces of infrastructure. Interactive was on-site in a couple of hours and had it back up and running with little to no impact to our operations”, said Shailesh Singh, ICT Director, Amity College.

Operating out of three campuses across NSW, Amity College is now migrating its on-premises infrastructure to Microsoft Azure cloud. Executive Principal, Mehmet Koca, is focussed on the benefits this transformation will have on parents and their children attending their schools.

It went from pen and paper to computers to dial up to Wi-Fi. Moving to the cloud is the next step forward and it’s the right time for us. Parents want their kids to be exposed to new technology and have digital literacy skills. For that to happen, we need a resilient technology foundation to support the next generation - Mehmet Koca, Executive Principal

Choosing the right provider is pivotal at this point in an organisation’s transformation. Amity not only needed experts to support its migration to the cloud but also a managed services partner that understands the flexibility required for ongoing change.

“We didn’t make this decision flippantly. We heard from three other managed service providers, as well as Interactive. None came close to the contract flexibility that Interactive offers. We require the space to scale up and down as needed and not to be restricted by rigid provider contracts. Thankfully, Interactive understands that”, said Koca.

As the Australian economy enters a period of rising costs across the board, cost optimisation is top of mind. For Amity, they are already realising financial benefits through its partnership with Interactive.

Shailesh Singh, ICT Director, Amity College Our IT costings have now moved from CAPEX to OPEX, and we’re enabled to rationalise costs and make savings upfront. We wouldn’t have been able to do this alone and so effectively.

Interactive is an Australian technology solutions provider that has been securing its customers’ success for close to 35 years. It provides a suite of critical services including multi-cloud, cyber security, business continuity, data centres and hardware maintenance. Dan Cox, Interactive’s General Manager, Digital Transformation, said “We’re delighted to partner with Amity College to do what we do best and support them through their digital transformation, first off with cloud migration and ongoing as their managed services partner.”

With Interactive by its side, Amity College is targeting the end of calendar year 2022 to complete its migration to the cloud. Interactive will continue as Amity’s technology partner to optimise its cloud usage and costs along the way to ensure a seamless, integrated experience for their students and faculty.
